Wood Is Our Life
Our story began back in 1966, when Ernst Kaindl, a native of Austria, founded the first plant in Menznau near Lucerne, Switzerland. Today the SWISS KRONO GROUP is active worldwide, using only fresh wood from sustainably managed forests to make its high-quality products. The Heiligengrabe facility fits in ideally, as this natural raw material grows right in front of its doors.

The cornerstone for KRONOTEX was laid on 16 March 1993. It began producing the first MDF boards that same year. After that, its expansion took off as milestones chased one another: the start of laminate floor production in 1995, the establishment of KRONOTEX Fußboden GmbH in 1996, manufacture of OSB boards by the new company of KRONOPLY GmbH starting in 2001, and production of KRONOPLY wood-fibre insulation from 2005. Today, in 2013, we boast a 640-strong workforce, making us one of the region’s largest employers.
